A self-described member of the Hell’s Angels is accused of trying to extort thousands of dollars from a victim in Iowa City.

58-year-old Wayne Miller of New Haven, Connecticut was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:45 Thursday afternoon. Iowa City Police say Miller was near the intersection of Waterfront Drive and Southgate Avenue just before 4:45 Tuesday afternoon when he told another subject to look him in the eyes, got into the other person’s face, then told the person he would kill their spouse and children if he wasn’t paid $3,000. Miller allegedly claimed to be a member of the famous biker gang the Hell’s Angels.

Miller reportedly shoved an arriving paramedic and pushed his finger into their chest.

Miller is now charged with 1st Degree Harassment and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
