5th Street will be closed to thru traffic in front of the Coralville Public Library starting in mid-March for the final phase of the 5th Street improvements project
The final phase of the 5th Street Improvements project (Phase 5B) is scheduled to start on Monday, March 16, 2026. 5th Street will be closed to thru traffic in front of the Coralville Public Library.
Access to adjacent businesses and the Coralville Public Library will be maintained during construction, but alternate routes might be needed. The 5th Street Improvements Project should be completed by mid-June.

About the Project
5th Street has been in the process of being reconstructed from 12th Avenue to 20th Avenue during the 2024, 2025, and early 2026 construction seasons. The construction has been divided into multiple phases to manage access to adjacent properties. Construction is complete on Phases 1, 2A, 2B, 3, 4, and 5A. Phase 5B is the final phase of the project
The project includes concrete street pavement, wider sidewalks, water main, storm sewer, and streetscape enhancements including decorative lighting, street trees, and landscaping. Learn more at www.coralville.org/
