A Coralville man is accused of leading Johnson County deputies on a slow-speed chase after originally being clocked at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

According to arrest records, 48-year-old Scott Stange of Holiday Road was clocked at 109 miles per hour on Oak Crest Hill Road just after 4:45 on the afternoon of February 12th. The speed limit is 45.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop, and Stange’s 2017 Jeep Cherokee reportedly slowed down to 30 miles per hour. But the vehicle continued on Old Highway 218 and McCollister Boulevard for about a mile before it finally pulled into the parking lot of the Veteran’s Liberty Center on South Riverside Drive.

Stange was charged with Eluding and Speeding. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail.
