A police chase that stretched for at least 30 miles on Interstate 80 ended when the suspect crashed their vehicle in Iowa City.
Dispatch records indicate the chase was first reported to the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center just before 12:45 Saturday afternoon as it was moving from the Tipton area to the West Branch area, continuing toward Iowa City.
The vehicle crashed near the Dodge Street exit, blocking one lane of westbound traffic as crews cleaned up the debris. The road was reopened by 2:00.
One person was taken into custody by the Iowa State Patrol, but no other details have been released. As of Saturday night, none of the inmates booked into the Johnson County Jail had been charged with Eluding.
