Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect wanted for allegedly leading a police chase earlier this year.
Arrest records indicate an officer tried to pull over a 2017 Chevy Acadia Denali being driven by 32-year-old Daveon Curry of Raleigh Lane as he drove northbound through a red light at 1st Avenue and Muscatine Avenue just before 12:15 on the morning of January 17th. Curry was initially pulled over in front of the nearby Hy-Vee, but police say he drove away as the officer was approaching his window.
A few minutes later, Curry reportedly passed the officer near the intersection of Peterson and Court Streets. Another pursuit began, but Curry was allegedly able to get away by going northbound on Cayman Street.
Curry is now charged with Eluding, Driving While Revoked, Driving While Suspended, and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
Curry was given a one-day jail sentence after leading police on a foot chase on Sandusky Drive in 2020.
