A car fire at a Cedar Rapids auto repair shop caused significant damage.
The incident occurred just after 8pm Saturday on the 3800 block of 16th Avenue SW. Dispatch was notified of a car that caught fire and arriving crews encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. Multiple crews were eventually utilized to bring the fire under control.
Two individuals working inside the shop at the time were able to evacuate safely. No medical treatment was required.
A damage estimate was not immediately made available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
