A Hope House resident who absconded last weekend is back behind bars.

31-year-old Ray Troyer was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 3:00 Tuesday afternoon. Hope House staff say Troyer checked out of the Holiday Road facility on Friday with a return time of 11:00 that night. He did not return.

Troyer is charged with Absence From Custody, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.

In 2021 Troyer pleaded guilty to charges that he stole two different vehicles in the process of leading police on a chase from Heartland Drive in Coralville to Oxford.
