State Senator Zach Wahls has received a powerful endorsement in his bid for the US Senate.
The Gazette reports Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts has endorsed Wahls in the state Democratic primary, adding a prominent progressive voice to a race that is increasingly drawing national attention.
Wahls is vying for the spot against state representative Josh Turek of Council Bluffs in the June 2 primary.
Republican Joni Ernst has announced she is not seeking re-election this November.
Warren, a former presidential candidate, praised Wahls’ record and his campaign platform, in a statement released by his campaign.
Wahls endorsed Warren for president during her 2020 bid for the office, but Warren finished 3rd in the Iowa Democratic caucuses.
