A West Burlington man was arrested Saturday night after an altercation with a woman in downtown Iowa City.

25-year-old Taruis Robinson of East Pennington Street was allegedly witnessed by bystanders at approximately 11:50pm on the 200 block of South Dubuque Street, having an argument with a woman, and they reported the incident turned physical. Arriving police found Robimson and the woman uncooperative and neither wanted to press charges. Additionally, they denied a physical altercation taking place.

After it was determined no arrest was going to be made, the two then reportedly had a conversation away from officers. The woman then alleged that Robinson threatened to kill her and flagged officers down to report the threat.

Robinson was spotted near the intersection of Iowa Avenue and Dubuque Street and was told by police to stop, but he allegedly took off running and led officers on a pursuit. Once apprehended, Robinson refused commands to get on the ground.

He was charged with 1st degree Harassment and Interference with Official Acts, and faces up to 25 months in jail if convicted on both counts.
