A suburban Des Moines man who called in as a reckless driver was arrested for his second OWI.
Just after 4:15pm Monday, authorities reportedly observed 45-year-old Brent Allen of Elkhart operating at various speeds and committing lane violations. Lights and sirens were deployed to get his attention and get him to pull over.
Upon contact, Allen allegedly had the odor of ingested alcohol and slurred speech. He reportedly refused all field and chemical testing. Deputies say Allen was uncooperative and tried to posture up and step away from them.
An empty shooter and a nearly empty bottle of vodka was found on the vehicle’s floorboard.
Allen was previously convicted of OWI in Polk County in 2019.. He was charged with his 2nd offense, as well as Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on both charges, he faces up to 25 months in jail.
