The city of Coralville is planning a new roundabout near Costco.
The Daily Iowan reports the construction at the intersection of Commerce Drive and Heartland Drive is necessary because the intersection has become increasingly difficult to navigate.
The Iowa Crash Analysis Tool says the intersection has seen 58 total crashes since 2020. The crashes include two serious injuries.
This week, the City Council awarded the contract for the project to Midwest Concrete at a cost of $1.3 million, less than the $1.45 million estimated by the city’s engineers.
