Cedar Rapids man gets OWI after hitting parking garage wall

A Cedar Rapids man faces charges after allegedly providing a fake ID when stopped on suspicion of OWI.

The incident occurred Saturday during the 2am hour in downtown Iowa City. According to the arrest reports, 18-year-old Vincent Keller of Kirkwood Court was in the Capital Street parking garage when he allegedly was observed by a police officer hitting a wall with his vehicle.

Upon contact, Keller reportedly admitted to drinking and that he shouldn’t be driving. After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, he provided a preliminary breath test showing his breath-alcohol level at .199 percent.

Keller was also reportedly in possession of a fictitious ID to make him appear of drinking age.

He was arrested and charged with OWI first offense and Possession of a fictitious ID. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
