Two deaths have recently been reported at Iowa correctional facilities.
77-year-old Jess Ellsworth Whitselwas serving for crimes committed in Linn County. He died Friday evening at the Iowa State Penentiary.
Whitsel’s sentence began on April 23, 1982.
Also on Friday, 62-year-old Robert Boeck passed away at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville at 2:50pm. He was serving time for crimes committed in Pottawattamie County. He had been in prison since October 29-2021.
