The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Cedar Rapids man they say crashed his car near Shueyville after leaving a strip club.
A deputy was dispatched to 120th Street near Fisher Pond Road just after 4:45 last Sunday morning for a vehicle in the ditch. The driver, 19-year-old Juan Acahua of Monmouth Street SW, was waiting outside his 2013 Chevy Equinox when the deputy arrived. The officer claims Acahua told him he had been at Woody’s Show Club and thought he was near the Kirkwood Community College campus. Kirkwood and Woody’s are both about 5.5 miles northwest of the crash site.
Acahua allegedly showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking. His breath alcohol level was measured at .215% and .197%. An open container of alcohol was found inside the vehicle.
Acahua was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Failure to Maintain Control, and Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age.
