A Coralville woman has been arrested and charged with stealing business deposits from a pizza place she was managing in downtown Iowa City.
Arrest reports indicate that 36-year-old Leslie Cady of Boston Way is employed by Blaze Pizza at the Old Capitol Center. Police were called there just before 4pm Wednesday for a series of thefts from the establishment.
On scene, the director of operations advised police of multiple missing bank deposits that Cady was responsible for. She allegedly admitted to stealing over 15 bank deposits totaling over $19,000 starting in April of this year. According to Cady, the money was used to fund a “gambling issue.”
Cady was taken into custody and charged with Theft in the First Degree, a Class C Felony punishable by a maximum sentence of ten years in prison if she’s convicted.
