A North Liberty man has been taken into custody for a stabbing incident that occurred this past December.
Authorities were dispatched to Little Caesars Pizza on Community Drive in North Liberty on the afternoon of December 20th for reports of a person that had been stabbed. Officers made contact with an 18-year-old at the scene who suffered multiple stab wounds. Through a subsequent investigation, the victim identified 22-year-old Josue Marrero Delgado of Holiday Lodge Road as the person responsible.
A warrant was issued for Marrero Delgado later that month.
On Sunday night, Marrero Delgado was stopped on Highway 965 for failure to display plates and window tint too dark for Iowa code. A run of his record turned up the arrest warrant, as well as the fact that his license had been suspended for numerous non-payment of Iowa fines. He has four withdrawals on file.
Marrero Delgado, who now lists his address in Cedar Rapids, was booked into the Johnson County Jail and faces charges of Assault Causing Serious Injury, Going Armed with Intent and Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury for the December incident, as well as Driving While Barred – Habitual Offender. If convicted on all charges, Marrero Delgado could face a prison term of up to 22 years.
