Iowa City Police are investigating an early Tuesday morning robbery at a southeast side convenience store.
Officers responded to Hawkeye Convenience Store on Commerce Drive just before 6am. According to the victim, a suspect wearing dark clothing and a mask entered the store, displayed a handgun while demanding money, and fled in the victim’s vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later located abandoned a short distance away on Sioux Avenue SE. The victim did not receive any physical injuries.
The suspect was described as a large black male, approximately 6 feet tall, and possibly having tattoos on his neck. No arrests have been made.
