An Iowa City woman faces a felony charge after she allegedly beat her daughter over three years ago.
35-year-old Shamika Miller of South Summit Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5am Friday. Iowa City Police say Miller’s daughter was found with scratches and bruises to her arms on January 27th, 2016. The injuries were allegedly caused by Miller using a belt and her hands to strike the girl on two different occasions. The girl also complained of pain as a result of Miller pulling her hair.
Miller is charged with Child Endangerment Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison.
