Nine people were cited for underage alcohol violations during a police check of downtown Iowa City bars late Friday night and early Saturday morning…including one person who was cited twice at two different locations.

Online records show five people were cited at The Airliner on South Clinton Street, with one each at The Fieldhouse on the Ped Mall, The Sports Column on South Dubuque Street, DC’s on the Ped Mall and The Summit on South Clinton Street.

Five of those cited were charged with being in a bar after 10pm, while three more were cited for Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age, or PAULA.

Presence on Premises After Hours and PAULA are both simple misdemeanors punishable by a fine of up to $250.

One person, 18-year-old Ryan O’Donnell of Orland Park, Illinois, was cited twice. O’Donnell was charged with Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in Public outside DC’s just after 11:15pm. Then he was arrested for Public Intoxication at The Summit just after 12:15am.
