Allegedly spraying his wife with a chemical irritant while she was in the shower has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.
Iowa City Police were called to a residence on Amhurst Street just after 12:15 Thursday afternoon after a woman called to report her niece may have been sprayed with pepper spray by her husband. The woman said the two were going through a divorce and had been arguing earlier in the day.
Investigators determined that 35-year-old Warren McDuffie had sprayed some form of chemical irritant in the bathroom while his wife was in the shower. The wife reported suffering pain to her eyes.
McDuffie is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
