Buying an $8000 truck from an Iowa City dealership with a bogus check has led to the arrest of a Solon man.
Police say that 59-year-old Brian Capouch of Lake Manor Road Northeast purchased the vehicle on April 20th from Carousel Motors. The dealership was notified on May 1st that the check was fraudulent and denied for insufficient funds.
Capouch allegedly told Carousel on numerous occasions throughout the month that he would give them some sort of payment before stopping communications with them. Capouch allegedly told police that he doesn’t have the funds for the truck.
A search of court records shows Capouch has had other legal issues with money and payments in the past.
Capouch was arrested Friday and charged with Theft in the 2nd Degree, a Class D felony punishable by a maximum sentence of five years if convicted.
