A former manager at the Iowa City Area Development Group is accused of misusing over a half-million dollars in funds.

According to KCRG TV-9, a special investigation by the state auditor’s office shows Sheri Jelinek used over $513,000 for personal expenses. Jelinek if a former ICAD office manager.

The purchases were allegedly made with an ICAD credit card. The investigation determined that Jelinek made the purchases between approximately December of 2013 and March of 2017, spending the money with the Home Shopping Network, Hulu, Walmart, the Linn County Rural Electrical Cooperative and others.

KCRG says copies of the audit have been sent to the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, the United States Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
