A member of the janitorial crew at Best Buy is accused of cleaning up in more ways than one after he allegedly stole an iPad while working.
Coralville Police say 52-year-old Miguel Augusto Hernandez Hernandez of Boston Way was cleaning the Coral Ridge Mall store the night of May 26th when he allegedly stole an iPad from behind the customer service counter and put it into a bag on the back of his vacuum cleaner.
When Best Buy management conducted an inventory and noticed the missing iPad, which is valued at $949.99, they checked surveillance footage and saw Hernandez Hernandez taking it.
Hernandez Hernandez admitted working the night of the theft but denied taking the iPad or any other merchandise. He’s charged with 3rd Degree Theft, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison.
