Coralville man arrested after allegedly making threats while brandishing a firearm

Allegedly making threats while brandishing a firearm has led to a Coralville man’s arrest.
Iowa City Police were called to 2023 Taylor Drive just before 7:45 Saturday night after a report of an intoxicated male pointing a gun at someone. An investigation determined that 28-year-old Tyrone Smith of 8th Street had been involved in an argument when he displayed a firearm in a threatening manner.
Witnesses identified Smith and pointed officers to the location of the gun. Smith was seen walking away from the area where the gun was located. He’s charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying Weapons. If convicted, he faces a maximum of four years in prison.
