A couple throwing sand at each other at Lake MacBride has led to a felony domestic abuse charge.
Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Lake MacBride beach parking lot on Highway 382 Northeast just after 1pm Friday by the alleged victim’s stepdaughter. An investigation determined that 36-year-old Carvon Clark of 5th Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids had been arguing with his pregnant live-in girlfriend and mother of two of his children. Clark had allegedly been belittling the woman and calling her names while they were at the beach. The incident escalated, and the two began throwing sand at each other.
Clark also allegedly threatened to push the woman into the water and threw an unknown object at her.
A check of Clark’s record showed two domestic abuse charges out of Linn County, one of which is still pending. He also has domestic abuse charges out of Louisiana.
Clark was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
