An employee fired from an Iowa City business is accused of stealing a trailer from his former employer.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Trevor Tvedte was let go from Mobile Maintenance Solutions on 420th Street last November. The next month he asked his former employer if he could borrow a factory-built enclosed trailer with several custom features. The request was denied.

The trailer was reported stolen from Mobile Maintenance Solutions in March. The owner of the business located the trailer at Tvedte’s home in the Golf View manufactured housing community in North Liberty in May and contacted the police. The trailer’s exterior and custom wheels had been painted. Tvedte had registered the trailer as “homemade” in April.

A search warrant was executed, and several other items belonging to Mobile Maintenance Solutions were found inside the trailer.

Tvedte was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5:45 Saturday morning and charged with 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
