A Chicago man was arrested after an alleged strong-arm robbery, and added to potential charges by giving a false name during arrest.
According to authorities, 32-year old Deonte House was identified by the victim of the incident, which occurred Saturday at around 3:45pm at the corner of Dubuque and Scott streets. Police say House denied being involved, and ignored their orders to step away from the victim.
House continued his combative behavior, physically resisting officers and refusing to comply with orders. It took four or more officers to detain him, and one officer received painful abrasions during the arrest.
House reportedly refused to identify himself to officers, although the victim had already said his first name was Deonte. Once at the Johnson County Jail, House was told that he needed to identify himself for booking purposes, but denied being Deonte House. Instead he gave his name as Scottie House with the same date of birth.
Officers learned House was lying after comparing mugshots.
Deonte House was charged with malicious prosecution, providing false identification information, and interference with official acts causing bodily injury. If convicted on the current charges, he could be sentenced to up to 25 months in prison.
Charges regarding the robbery have yet to be filed.
