Causing a ruckus at a North Liberty convenience store has led to drug charges against a Dubuque man.
North Liberty Police were called to the Casey’s on Kansas Avenue for the second time just before 9:30 Friday night for a man and woman who were fighting, yelling, and chasing each other behind the building. The couple’s behavior was creating a disruption for customers, and they had been warned earlier by police to stay away from each other.
The male subject, identified as 21-year-old Chase Burkart of Dubuque, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. A search of his person allegedly turned up a baggy with a white substance believed to be methamphetamine as well as a pipe commonly used to smoke meth.
Burkart now faces additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance – 2nd Offense and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 26 months in prison.
