An Idaho man has died after being hit by a semi just west of Oxford.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 54-year-old Stephen McKenna of Twin Falls, Idaho was driving his 2003 Hyundai eastbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 228 when he lost control and crashed into the median around 3:30 Sunday morning. The vehicle became entangled in the cable barrier, and McKenna then exited his vehicle and walked across the westbound lanes. He was then struck and killed by a westbound semi being driven by 71-year-old Stan Burcheci of Bothell, Washington.
The accident remains under investigation.
