A sibling argument over an Iowa State football fan who has raised over $2 million for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital led to violence and the arrest of a North Liberty man.

North Liberty Police say 21-year-old University of Iowa student Jordan Lewis and his brother were involved in a verbal argument over Carson King just before 8:45pm Friday at their Easton Lane residence when a fistfight ensued. Lewis allegedly punched his brother in the mouth resulting in a large cut on the brother’s lip.

The exact nature of the argument is not detailed in police records.

Lewis is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.

King gained national fame after he held a sign seeking beer money for Busch Light during ESPN’s College Gameday. As donations topped $1 million, King said he’d donate the money to the children’s hospital. A Des Moines Register reporter contacted King about racially insensitive tweets he made as a teenager, leading King to issue a statement apologizing. Public outcry against the Register led to the reporter leaving the newspaper. Busch Light also severed its ties to King after it was made aware of the tweets, leading many on social media to call for a boycott of the beer.

King, who made an appearance at Saturday’s Iowa football game, has now raised over $2 million.
