An Iowa City man has been taken into custody after allegedly being intimate with a fifteen-year-old girl.
31-year-old Ishmael Carter of South Scott Boulevard met the victim on Tinder and began a relationship. Arrest reports say that after that relationship began, Carter uploaded a video to the internet of himself and the girl being intimate.
An investigation of phone and Tinder messages between the two showed that from a period beginning July 23rd and ending towards the end of August, they did carry on a relationship, were together at Carter’s residence several times, and showed that they discussed engaging in sex acts.
During an interview with Carter, he admitted to having sex with the girl once, but believed her to be 20 years old, not 15. The girl disclosed to a third party that she allegedly had sex with Carter three times, two of which were against her will.
A warrant was issued for Carter’s arrest, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Sunday night. He’s charged with 3rd degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted.
