The month-long fundraising effort of Iowa State fan Carson King has finally come full circle.
King officially presented a check for over $3 million at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital on Friday.
King raised the money after holding a homemade sign asking for beer money to be sent to his Venmo account made it on ESPN Gameday September 14th, before the Iowa/Iowa State game in Ames. King decided to turn it into a fundraiser for the hospital, and got matching donations from Venmo and Anheuser Busch.
According to The Daily Iowan, the money will go towards easing the financial burden of patient families, Child Life services, investing in new technology, transportation services, development and education, and equipment needs.
There’s no official word as to whether King will be acknowledged at today’s Iowa-Penn State game at Kinnick Stadium.
