Allegedly slapping a fellow shoe store employee has led to a University of Iowa student’s arrest.
The alleged incident happened at The Finish Line in the Coral Ridge Mall Saturday night. Coralville Police say the store’s manager told an employee, 22-year-old McKinley Hickey of Apple Valley, Michigan, to put shoes away just after 7:30pm. Hickey refused to do so and allegedly became irate. The manager tried to send Hickey home early, but he refused. Instead, Hickey began yelling at the manager and calling him names. Hickey then allegedly slapped the manager in the face, causing pain and swelling.
As the manager was following Hickey to report the incident to police, Hickey allegedly came back at the manager a second time before finally leaving the property.
Hickey is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
