Coralville Police say a woman chased her boyfriend down the street with a knife during an early morning domestic dispute.

A caller informed the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communication Center just after 1am Wednesday that a woman with a knife was chasing a man down 4th Avenue. The man being chased later told police that the woman, identified as 44-year-old Roxanne Clay, chased him with the knife while yelling, “I am going to stab you.” Clay then fled on foot when the man said he was calling the police. The man was not injured.

Investigators say before the chase Clay threw a bucket at a window in the apartment the couple share on 4th Avenue, causing the window to break.

An eight-inch kitchen knife and two foldable box cutters were found in Clay’s purse upon her arrest. She allegedly gave officers another person’s name, and had that person’s identification on her. She also allegedly resisted handcuffing by flailing her arms, attempting to flee, and ignoring verbal commands.

Clay is charged with Carrying Weapons – Using a Knife In A Crime, Domestic Abuse Assault Using or Displaying a Weapon, Interference with Official Acts and Providing False Identity Information. If convicted, she faces a maximum of over four years in prison.

Online records show she was also wanted by police in Davenport.
