One person is dead and two more are injured after a Christmas night shooting in Coralville.
According to Coralville Police, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Boston Way just after 9:30pm for a report of gunshots. The first officer on the scene encountered three adults with gunshot wounds, one of which appeared to be in critical condition. All three were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. One of the three victims later died. The identity of that person is being withheld until family can be notified.
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics was put on temporary lockdown, as is standard procedure after shooting victims are admitted.
Access to the immediate area remains restricted, and the case remains under investigation.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa City Police, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the UI Department of Public Safety, the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Coralville Fire Department are all assisting in the investigation.
