A West Branch man faces a host of charges after allegedly going to the residence of the woman who has a no contact order against and allegedly terrorizing them over a two-day period.
Police say the victim got ahold of them on December 26th and said that 39-year-old Boone Barton arrived at their residence on the 23rd despite the no-contact order, and had been staying there for the past few days despite being asked to leave several times.
The woman said that Barton took control of her and her children’s cellphones and continued to remain verbally abusive and hostile towards her to the point where she was afraid for her and her children’s safety. She said that she was afraid to leave the residence because of the remoteness of the area.
During the ordeal, Barton allegedly threatened to stab the woman’s eyes out.
At one point during Barton’s stay, the woman was able to lock Barton out of the residence, but he broke into the home again. She continued to tell him that he just needed to leave.
Barton was taken into custody Thursday night and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault second offense, 1st degree harassment, violation of no-contact order, stalking, and 2nd degree burglary. If convicted on all counts, Barton could be sentenced to over 19 years in prison.
