A Hills man was taken into custody after an alleged domestic assault Saturday afternoon in Iowa City.
Reports indicate that 37-year-old Brian Laschke of East Main Street had been living in the Taft Avenue residence since February with the alleged victim and their mother.
According to police, Laschke and his sister got into an argument that led to him punching her in the mouth. The victim ran back into her room while Laschke reportedly continued to hurl insults at her and followed her, yelling.
The woman told authorities that the punch caused pain and discomfort to her lower lip.
Laschke has been convicted of Domestic Abuse on at least three prior occasions in Johnson County, in 2012, 2014 and 2017.
He was charged with domestic abuse assault third or subsequent, a Class D Felony. If convicted, Laschke faces a prison term of up to five years. A no-contact order was requested between the parties.
