An Iowa City man was taken into custody after reportedly falling asleep at a Coralville gas station pump and being found with meth.
Police were called to the Kum & Go on First Avenue at 1:12am Saturday to do a welfare check on an individual who had been parked at one of the gas pumps for over an hour. They came upon 45-year-old Todd Rothenberger of Reno Street, and discovered he was asleep.
Once Rothenberger was awakened, a police canine was requested and reportedly gave a positive alert for drugs in the vehicle. Officers allegedly found a white crystal-like substance in a clear plastic baggie found inside the vehicle, as well as anumber of needles. A tube with a white substance and pipes with burnt residue were also reportedly found.
