A Coralville woman was taken into custody after allegedly hitting a man while holding a cellphone.
Officers were called to the 900 block of 22nd avenue for a domestic incident Sunday at approximately 5:50am, but upon arrival learned that the parties involved had no domestic relationship. What they did find out was the suspect in the alleged incident was leaving by vehicle and was located near the scene.
The man who was the reported victim in the incident said that 27-year-old Camilla Gould of Coral Court hit him after a verbal argument. Gould allegedly had her phone in her right hand and swung at him. Her blow landed on his left ear, causing it to bleed.
Officers note that the man was still bleeding from the ear, and Gould’s phone reportedly had blood on the back side of the device.
Gould was taken into custody and charged with assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year. A no-contact order has been requested between the two parties.
