Iowa City police have announced a second arrest in connection with the April 20th shooting death of Kejuan Winters.
In a release from the Department, 22-year-old Durojaiye Antonio Rosa is charged with First Degree Murder for his role in Winters’ death.
Arrest reports indicate that first responders were called to 1960 Broadway for a disturbance at around 10am that day; gun shots were heard on the call to police. Arriving officers found Winters, who died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Rosa and an unidentified female were present in the residence. The two described a man matching the shooter’s description entering the residence and fighting with Winters before hearing shots.
An investigation of cellphone records reportedly shows that Rosa was communicating with the shooter about entering the apartment immediately prior to shots being fired. During a followup interview, Rosa allegedly admitted that he and the shooter discussed a plan to rob the victim. Rosa did state that he did not plan for Winters to be shot, only robbed.
Winters was unarmed.
Rosa is being charged with Murder in the First Degree, a Class A Felony punishable by life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Police are still investigating the case, and continue to search for 44-year-old Reginald “Reggie” Little, named as a person of interest in the case. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
