An Iowa City transient was arrested this week after allegedly assaulting a resident with a folding chair.
Officers were called to the 100 block of East College Street at 10am Wednesday. They came upon the victim, who had a cut on his face. The alleged assailant, later identified as 37-year-old Larry Morgan, had fled the scene, but police located him a few blocks away from the altercation.
Morgan reportedly admitted to being a part of the altercation. The man and a corroborating witness report that Morgan swung a folding camping chair at the man, causing the injury.
Morgan was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
