Getting a drunk driving charge on a moped is rare, but two Iowa City residents managed to do just that overnight…and both were stopped for having too many passengers.

The first incident saw 21-year-old Camden Christensen of East Fairchild Street get pulled over by Iowa City Police just after 11:15pm Saturday near the corner of Gilbert and Court Streets. Police say Christensen had too many passengers, showed multiple signs of intoxication, failed field sobriety tests, and registered a blood alcohol content of .172%.

The second incident occurred near the corner of Riverside Drive and Myrtle Avenue just after 3:15am Sunday. The ICPD stopped 21-year-old UI student Georgia Sampson of East College Street for also having too many passengers. Police say she, too, showed signs of intoxication, admitted drinking, failed field sobriety tests and registered a BAC of .138%.

Both Christensen and Sampson are charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
