Iowa City Police are warning the community about a man looking into the windows of female residents.

According to a release from the Department, the incidents have been localized to the 300 block of South Dodge Street and the 500 block of South Johnson Street between 2 and 3am between this past Thursday through Sunday.

The “overnight peeper” in at least one incident was observed performing indecent activities outside a window. In other incidents, women have reported seeing a camera flash outside of the windows.

Four reports were taken in the time period, and victims described the possible suspect as a short-statured male with a thin build, possibly in his early 20s. They’ve also reported seeing a red pickup truck in the area.

Police are urging all residents to always keep doors and windows locked, even when home. They also advise to close window coverings at night, especially in bedrooms and bathrooms. Any suspicious activity should be reported by calling the emergency 9-1-1 number.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the police at 319-356-5275. Anyone with security or surveillance cameras in the areas mentioned are asked to review their recordings and contact police if there’s footage that could be of help in their investigation.
