A North Liberty man was stopped for excessive speeding early Wednesday morning and now faces OWI charges.

Arrest reports indicate that 32-year-old Dustin Boeckenstedt of South Jones Boulevard was observed near the 3 mile marker of I380. North Liberty Police stopped the man for going 113 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone.

Boeckenstedt reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, had unsteady balance, and smelled strongly of ingested alcohol. He also allegedly made several comments about consumption of alcohol and his intoxication level.

Boeckenstedt was taken to the Coralville Police Department for chemical testing, and gave a Datamaster reading of .192 percent blood-alcohol level. A check of his records showed his driving status as barred, and a previous OWI conviction in Johnson County back in 2019.

Boeckenstedt was charged with second offense OWI and Driving while Barred. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to a maximum four years in prison.
