Following another driver home to North Liberty after a traffic incident had a less-than-ideal outcome for a man who was punched in the face as a result.

North Liberty Police were called to an assault in the Holiday Lodge manufactured housing community just after 4pm Wednesday. The alleged victim reported following another vehicle to Holiday Lodge after a traffic incident on I-380. Once the other vehicle pulled into a residential driveway, the alleged victim wrote down the license plate number. As he was leaving, an associate of the other driver, 18-year-old Omar Ramirez Aguilar of Holiday Lodge, confronted the man and allegedly punched him in the face as he was sitting in his vehicle. Police say Ramirez Aguilar was not involved in the initial traffic incident.

Ramirez Aguilar is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
