Swisher firefighters battle weekend blaze near Hawkeye Wildlife Area

Swisher firefighters were joined by five other area fire departments in battling a weekend blaze north of the Hawkeye Wildlife Area.

According to the Facebook page of the Jefferson Monroe Fire Department, which serves Swisher and the surrounding areas, firefighters were called to a structure fire at 1937 Plotz Road just before noon Sunday. They were joined by fire units from Solon, North Liberty, Cedar Rapids, Fairfax and Ely.

The fire was contained to the upstairs. Photos of the damage taken from outside the residence can be seen on the Jefferson Monroe Fire Department Facebook page.

There were no reported injuries. A damage estimate has not been released.
