Evicted IC renter accused of threatening landlord

An evicted Iowa City renter faces charges that he threatened his landlord.

According to arrest records, Iowa City Police were assisting management of The Quarters on Highway 6 East in issuing an eviction notice to 29-year-old Nicholas Kuebel just before 5:15pm on November 18th. Kuebel allegedly told officers he was going to punch the landlord in the face.

As the landlord and officers tried to walk away, Kuebel allegedly followed them in an attempt to fight his property manager. Police say Kuebel show signs of intoxication and refused breath testing. After Kuebel was placed into custody, he allegedly threatened to fight the arresting officer once he got out of jail.

Kuebel is charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 60 days in jail.

Trial is set for January 6th.
