An Iowa City man has been arrested after committing a string of thefts over the past week.

36-year-old Donnie Reed of Sylvan Glen Court is allegedly observed on video footage taking a bottle of bourbon from the Mormon Trek DeliMart around 1:15am this past Friday, then returning a few hours later to steal two $30 lottery tickets.

Reed returned to the same location on Tuesday around 5:30am and again took two $30 lottery tickets.

On Wednesday, Reed was back just before 3 am, and allegedly took a bottle of vodka without paying. Officers located him near the intersection of Mormon Trek and Bartelt Road, and Reed claimed not to have an ID on him. He reportedly said his name was Chris Robinson and provided a false date of birth. He then ID’d himself as Geno Smith and allegedly gave a false Social Security number.

Reed had a warrant after failing to appear for an arraignment on June 21st 2021. He was charged with Unauthorized use of a Credit card in January 2020 after reportedly using a stolen debit card on Mormon Trek Boulevard at the Kum & Go, Fareway and Hartug Drug stores, buying just over $33 in merchandise in total.

Reed faces two counts of 5th degree theft and two counts of theft of Lottery tickets. He also has been charged with providing false ID information. Adding in the previous charge, Reed could be sentenced to over twelve years in prison if convicted on all counts.
