A Grinnell man faces charges that he burglarized multiple vehicles during a wrestling dual at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

41-year-old Steven Brown was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 5:45 Tuesday night. University of Iowa Police say security cameras show Brown driving his white Cadillac Deville in Lot 75 on Hawkins Drive during the February 19th wrestling dual between Oklahoma State and Iowa.

Multiple items were reported stolen from vehicles, including a PlayStation with a headset and a controller, extended hard drive attachments, chargers, and multiple items of clothing including shorts, sweatshirts, t-shirts and sweatpants. The total estimated value of the stolen items is $1,065.

UI Police say they observed Brown’s car enter UI Hospital Ramp 4 on Tuesday night. When questioned by UI Police, Brown allegedly not only confessed to the burglaries, but also reportedly described some of the items reported stolen. Investigators also claim Brown had lock-picking tools inside his car.

Brown is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle – 2nd or Subsequent Offense and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
