Strong thunderstorms are moving through the area right now

…Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of Keokuk, western
Cedar, Johnson, southeastern Benton, Washington, southwestern Jones,
northwestern Muscatine, northern Jefferson, southern Linn and Iowa
Counties through 100 AM CDT…

At 1213 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Swisher to near Eddyville. Movement was
east at 30 mph.

HAZARD…Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Strong thunderstorms will be near…
North Liberty, Swisher and Shueyville around 1220 AM CDT.
Ely around 1225 AM CDT.
Bertram and Lake Macbride State Park around 1230 AM CDT.
Solon around 1235 AM CDT.
Mount Vernon, Lisbon and Hedrick around 1245 AM CDT.
Martinsburg around 1250 AM CDT.
Mechanicsville, Stanwood, Packwood and Abingdon around 100 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by these storms include Middle Amana, Sugar
Bottom Camp Ground, Johnson County Fairgrounds, Pekin, High Amana,
Lake Darling State Park, Thornburg, Keokuk County Fairgrounds,
Washington County Fairgrounds and West Amana.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 214 and 257.
Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 20.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in the Quad Cities.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for
southeastern and east central Iowa.
